In order to protect the rights and interests of Consumers and to make the consumers know their rights and responsibilities, IMS Law College has Consumer Club which regularly organizes Consumer Awareness Programmes at Schools and at villages as well as Quiz competitions to prevent the consumers from falling into the easy and gullible trap of the misleading advertisements, frauds, unfair and deceptive practices.

Seminar on Misleading Advertisements

Nayi Pehal Consumer Club, on the 20th of January, 2020, organized a seminar on the topic of “Misleading Misleading Advertisements and Consumer Protection Act”. The seminar was held under the able guidance and support of Hon’ble Dean Academics Dr. Manju Gupta and Hon’ble Dean-Law Prof. (Dr.) K.S. Bhati.

The event had the auspicious presence of Dr. Sunil Prakash (Consumer Rights Activist) who, as the guest speaker enlightened the audience on the issue. The event also saw the presence of Mr. Akhilesh Jain (Consumer Activist). A multitude of students also spoke about the issue as speakers in the seminar.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sunil Prakash, Mr. Akhilesh Jain, Dr. Kulneet Suri, Dr. Manju Gupta, Dr. K S Bhati , and Prof. (Dr.)Niti Sinha by Lighting the lamp. Prof. (Dr). KS Bhati welcomed the guest on this occasion. Dr. Kulneet Suri encouraged students for bringing awareness and social change through awareness programs. Dr. Manju Gupta also motivated students by promoting the sense of responsibility of the aware consumer.

The event was well handled and organized by Prof. (Dr). Niti Sinha (Faculty Convenor – Nayi Pehal) and Ashutosh Bharti (President – Nayi Pehal). The entire seminar was coordinated and anchored by Andrina D’Souza.

The seminar was a success and it left the participants glowing with knowledge.

LEGAL AWARENESS CAMP ON  ‘CONSUMER PROTECTION LAW’

IMS Law College, Noida organized a ‘Legal Awareness Camp’ at the Karl Huber School, Sector 62, Noida on October 15, 2018 on ‘Consumer Protection Law’. It was not only an immense experience of telling students about the consumer rights and how it can protect consumers interests but also a well-organized event in which some students of IMS Law College also spoke on various sub-topics related to the issue. The camp started with the introductory lecture by      Mr. Deepak Singh and Mr. Ankit Rai. The student-speakers spoke on the following sub-topics:

  2. What are consumers’ rights?
  3. Complaint and Redressal Mechanism
  4. Legal remedies
  5. Grounds of Complaint.
  6. Online portal
  7. Jurisdiction- District/State/National.

A demo was also conducted by the faculty members on how one can file the complaint online.

In the end, the Principal of Karl Huber School was presented a memento by Faculty mentors on behalf of the IMS Law College.
